The next time you reach up to a Redwood tree consider this ancestral knowledge gifted to our @gatherfilm crew by @sammygensaw, the gregarious leader of the @ancestral_guard: “For the Yurok tribe there is a tradition that when a baby is born the father takes the after-birth (the placenta) and places it at the root system of a baby Redwood tree. They take care of that tree the same as the child with the belief that the health and spirit of both are now linked”
