This stunning gold cross is a fusion of styles and eras. Each arm features a small enamel inlay from the Middle Byzantine period – around the 10th century AD. The inlay at the top depicts St Mark, the patron saint of barristers and Venice, among other things. The highly ornamented cross was made around the end of the 19th century, and is decorated with a large sapphire in the centre, green gemstones and inlaid enamel.
