I remember all three of my midwives who helped deliver my babies but I know that Alessia’s one will hold a special place in my heart forever ❤️ Her name was Victoria and she was a Spanish lady who had three children herself. That woman took care of me as if I was one of her own children, I will never forget the comforting & supportive way she spoke to me when I was in labour, how she helped me to the bathroom, cleaned me up afterwards, held and looked at Alessia. When it was all over & she was finishing her shift in the early hours of the morning she came to visit me in my room to give me a hug and kiss goodbye. I cried when she left, because I felt like I had just met someone so special who I would probably never see again. And at that vulnerable, raw, emotional time I couldn’t find the words to tell her what she meant to me. ? I know she will most likely never see this post but with 1 in 3 midwives feeling undervalued, International Day of the Midwife is the perfect time to say #ThankYouMidwife for all they did to help us push on through.
