It amazes me, in a bad way, that so many ‘religious’ people are either indifferent to or dismissive of animal suffering. As the only creatures who WERE kicked out of the garden of eden you’d think that humans would have a bit more respect and concern for animals, who are God’s creation and live in a state of inherent grace. “Dominion” doesn’t mean to dominate, it means to treat in a divine manner. “I desire mercy, and not sacrifice” Hosea 6:6. I’m not a conventional Christian, but I do know that nowhere in the old and new testaments does god encourage people to torture animals or turn a blind eye to suffering. Maybe respect and reverence for all of Gods creation should be a central part of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim worship.
