Honda is conducting a SAFETY RECALL of all 2016-2017, and some 2018, Pioneer 1000s to install an additional heat shield to the muffler and replace the plastic muffler protector with an updated part. Honda has decided that under certain conditions (engine misfire) the plastic muffler protector can melt and possibly catch fire, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.
