Over the last 4 days I was given the great honor of being a mentor and surf coach alongside waterman Tyler Lausten to my old NSCD ski race friend Beth at a High Fives Foundation surf camp in San Clemente.
.
Beth has never surfed but is a proven athlete and charges at life in her own understated but badass way. She’s naturally quiet but fierce on the inside and watching her push herself to the limit to catch a wave, and actually experience the freedom of riding that wave was all time! She also got drilled (as all surfers do) by some sizable surf but of course reemerge from the salty water with a smile on her face... got back on her board and paddled out. That’s it, the try... the best stuff.

There’s few things better in this world than sharing the love I have for the ocean with someone that’s never experienced it.

Thank you @hi5sfoundation for having a vision that truly believes in not only recovering from a spinal cord injury but adapting in fun and creative ways to live life to its absolute fullest, regardless of how your body works.
