It is an odd thing, how fast we forget. As I looked through the “mainstream” media outlets today, I saw no mention of the actions taken 74 years ago. Even if your only participation in the campaign was that day, you would never forget it for the rest of your life. It would anchor your appreciation and perspective forever. War is an ugly and chaotic affair. It should be avoided at all costs, and all avenues should be explored prior to engaging. There are times when it cannot be avoided, and we should never forget those that answered the bell when it rung.
