"Seventy years ago, George and I had the wonderful opportunity to travel Africa's vast and empty bushlands in our loaded Land Rover, which was more like a home than a vehicle. After having signed countless forms in different languages, restrictions that unfortunately, still exist today, we were FREE. Africa seemed happy to receive us. Several of the countries and territories we passed through in those far off days had never seen a white woman, let alone a woman driving a vehicle. What I always remember is the kindness shown to us from all we met, despite the fact that to many it must have been a shock to see a young white woman at the wheel. Elephants, rhino, buffalo and other native wildlife were still free to wander. Today, these animals rarely roam free; they are, instead, increasingly hunted, and increasingly in need of defense for their freedom." - Jinx Rodger, widow of George Rodger
