Getting ready for the weekend with Eugène #Boudin’s elegant depiction of the #coast of #Normandy in the summer of 1866, adorned with #fashionably dressed members of the #French #aristocracy parading on the #beach. Boudin’s interest in capturing the fleeting effects of #sunlight on sumptuous #fabrics and the effect of a windy day on the flowing #garments had a profound influence on the #Impressionist artists – the beach scenes vibrating with subtle nuances of #light, #colour, shade and movement. Going on view for the first time since 1985, this picturesque early example of Boudin’s favourite subject will star in our #London #exhibition from Thursday 14 June.
