When I was producing "The Wiz", Michael asked me if I could find him a producer for his next album. He was so quiet, but after working with him on set, I saw how brilliant & disciplined he was...He would come at 5am for a 4 hour makeup job, then he would stand around & watch everyone & everything so that he could learn every song, every dance step, & every line. It was absolutely unbelievable, & I began to see a maturity that I’d never seen before. I immediately told him I wanted to take a shot at producing his record, & we went on to do "Off the Wall", "Thriller", & "Bad". He was & always will be like a son to me, & it was an absolute honor to have him in my life. It was the perfect musical relationship, built upon nothing but trust, love, & respect, & there will never be another like him...I'm currently in London for my concert at @theo2london on Wednesday, & I can't help but think back to the last time I talked to him 9 years ago, because I was also in London at the time. He called me up to see if he could bring the kids over, but I told him I'd have to see him when I got back to LA...Always tell your loved ones you love them. I can’t believe it’s already been 9 years since his passing, but he’ll forever remain in our souls & hearts. Miss you forever, Smelly! ❤️
