This picture of my grandfather and his lab partner was taken at the University of Washington for pre-pharmacy studies right before WWII hit and he was sent to serve in the 442nd. To me this picture represents everything that makes America so beautiful. An amalgam of people from every different point on the globe, with opposite cultures and diverse beliefs that together form a vibrantly gorgeous piece of art. These two men shared one clear commonality: their pursuit of the American Dream. While my grandfather passed many years ago, I still wonder if these two men ever saw each other again after the war. I wonder where his family ended up and if I could find them. Let’s not forget each other. #fourthofjuly
