So great to meet these two @ucla students who are just out to play a little catch.
Maybe I’m a hopeless romantic and a sucker for the great game of baseball but with this commissioner, the passionate @MLB owners and all of the transcendent young talent in our game - we will get back to number one.
We have already grown our game to Japan, Mexico, Latin America, and have an iconic series in London planned for next summer between the Yankees and Red Sox.
As stewards of our game, we shouldn’t be worried about speeding it up. We should be striving to improve what makes it great.
We need more contact hitters like Johnny Damon and guys who rarely struck out, like Joe DiMaggio. More guys swiping bases like Lou Brock, bunting the way Phil Rizzuto mastered it and commanding the zone like Sandy Koufax.
And it all starts with kids and young men like these, just out playing catch.
Cord, you had me at hello, buddy.
