“Bimini, Bahamas is home to an abundance of life including the great hammerhead (Sphyrna mokarran). I have been freediving regularly with these sharks for over 6 years and am now able to identify a number of individuals through a few distinctive characteristics such as fin notches, external tags, skin coloration/markings, or occasionally, behavior alone. Freediving with these animals eliminates bubbles generated by SCUBA, whilst restricting ‘bottom time’ due to the need to breathe.
