I received some more info about this vet hospital and how they address declawing.?
A vet tech from this hospital was asked what are the medical reasons for declawing a cat.
He said there are no medical reasons to declaw a cat and that it's a cosmetic procedure and they just do the front paws and leave it up to the client. He said they don’t declaw dogs.
When asked if declawing is ok to do to a cat he said, "yeah totally." When asked if it harms the cat in anyway he said no and just that their paws would be tender for a few days but there are no complications and it doesn't harm them. He said that people can declaw their cat if the tendons don't retract the claws, if the claws are over-grown into the pads, or if they can't trim their nails. He said they take the claws out so people don't have their furniture scratched or so they don't get scratched. When asked if they keep up with the CE courses to learn the latest in veterinary medicine, he said yes.
When asked if he was aware about this post that his hospital made, he said no.
