From ambassador @adventuremilo: We approached at night, attempting to get our hands on the rock before the sun did. Chasing us were dark rumbling clouds that threatened lightning and thunder, in addition to showers which would threaten our descent. Hallett Peak waited for us, but not impatiently for it had been there much longer than us now, and would be there long after as well. The planned 9 pitch route would only be half-completed by the time electric explosions were too near, and we would be forced to descend. With a mist of rain that made the rock slick, we made our rapid escape and rappelled off several
pitons that were probably older than us and one knot that managed to hold, wedged in a crack in the stone that I can still clearly see when I close my eyes.
