This father filmed his son being denied access to a school because of his hair... this broke my heart. @shaunking Has talked to the Dad & the kid has been accepted to another school, but this young kid will have to fight this pain. I hope his community is strong.

I wore dreads from 1993-2000 for this reason! While schools & jobs have dress codes, the designers have never embraces other cultural hair styles. This is why Black folks get angry when other cultures wear our styles without having to deal with this... and we have dealt with this the entire time. THIS IS WHY MANY OF US ARE CONDITIONED TO BELIEVE OUR NATURAL HAIR EXPRESSIONS ARE UGLY & NOT PRETTY... so we assimilate, wear wigs & lace fronts N shit...
