NEVER thought in a million years I would ever get to say this but… Today my favorite song writer of all time (Sir Paul McCartney) dropped his new single, and I happened to have co-written/produced it with him. It started with a random phone call from a British phone number that I kept sending to voicemail because I didn’t realize it was Paul… It ended with me flying to his studio in the UK over looking the English channel and doing a handful of songs at the last minute for his album “Egypt Station”. After doing a couple more experimental songs, this song was done on the very last day and the entire objective was “let’s just have fun and write a big old fashioned sing along”… something that was singable from people still pubbing at last call to people with headphones on their commute (or something along those lines…). The title was “For You”—- but Paul has a bit of an accent... it kept sounding like “Fuh” you..... and we both love double entendres... so the rest is history. I’m grateful and blessed to have been a part of this process and already have learned so much from him and his musically inexhaustible brain (he graciously answered every countless Beatles and Wings song questions I asked)- for all the old-school hard-core Beatles & Paul fans out there, this is something different. It’s new vibes, but it still has a bit of the old spirit in it as well, and if nothing else, it might just get stuck in your head for days. hope you guys like it.
