An ethereal haze is seeping through the Emerald Necklace, the 1100-acre chain of parks that snakes throughout Boston. What appears to be divine intervention is in fact the work of Japanese artist Fujiko Nakaya, who has perfected the art of the fog sculpture over the last 50 years. In Boston, each of Nakaya's five works is tailored to a specific spot that had been designed by 19th-century landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, showing her virtuosity with manufactured plumes and clouds of water vapour.
