“I spent nine days in the Gobi. Because weather changes so quickly in Mongolia, most of the nights were spent inside due to the rain. So on our 5th day in the Gobi, it was actually only my second time viewing the stars with a clear night. The moon was rising later, so there weren't any clouds in the distance.That evening I began scouting a foreground location since the area of Mongolia that I was in was flat. I ended up taking a 30 min walk in pitch darkness after dinner to a green marsh I saw in the distance.When I finally arrived at the marsh, I set my tripod up, pointed the camera at the sky and shot.

During the shutter open, I was completely entranced by the beauty of the night sky. I was able to see the milky way and our neighboring planets in the distance with my naked eyes. It was an incredible site. In this photo you can see on the bottom left our neighbor Mars and on the top right I was lucky enough to capture a shooting star while the shutter was open." ? + caption by William Reillo (@williamreillo)
