ZZ’s pink and white organza gown swooshed behind her as she sashayed through the New Yorker Hotel. She looked determined to take home the night’s crown title: Miss Cotillion. “I know she’s happy, and I know she likes the dress,” said Ilene Zeines, dressed in a more demure black strapless gown. “If she doesn’t like the dress, she is not going to wear it. She is going to bite me.” We should probably mention that ZZ is a maltipoo. Ilene, her owner, has entered her in a number of dog fashion competitions and events. That’s how ZZ became one of 70 dogs in the Fifth Annual International Cotillion, which our videographer @poorpotatoface and writer @remytumin attended earlier this month. Produced by GGirl Productions, the cotillion and similar events have raised more than $120,000 for dog rescue groups around the U.S. This month, the dogs were judged in 3 categories: clothing, accessories and behavior.
