I spent 16 wonderful years with this beautiful little lady. She was always there for me, through some of the most traumatic and challenging times you go through as a human on this earth. She healed me in ways I cannot begin to describe in words. Anyone who is close to their pets knows what I’m talking about when I say: You bond with your pets deeper than humans on some levels. Their unconditional love knows no boundaries, no judgment, no filters, just pure enlightenment. We as humans have much to learn from our earthly animal relatives. Myrtle Gaalaas, affectionately known as ‘Mert' or 'Mert the turt' was my darling… I’m not crying out for sympathy here… this, in-fact instills, very pointedly, all of us and our loved ones, have our time here and then it will be gone, perhaps morphing into some other form of energy/deity or whatever it is? It is up to us to make of it as we do, to treat yourself/others with the utmost respect and be mindful it can all go away at the blink of an eye. Oh... and go give your pet some love, now! I like to think Mert had a fulfilled life, even if she was diabetic through half of it. The twice a day shots of insulin were no big deal to her, she’d purr right through it and somehow just accepted it as the norm. She had a couple of near death episodes these last few years but her will to live was unprecedented… actually, you could probably say that about most animals… but even when she was nearly in a diabetic coma, she would purr if you petted her, I could never understand that one but somehow she knew, if she pressed on, she'd pull through. In the end, though it was just too much… I couldn’t fathom another horrifying trip for her to the vet. It was her time... Thank you for the endless love, I'll miss you dearly, my precious Myrtle.❤️ 1st pic by @nakisurf
