About the project ? This series is inspired by photographer Fiona Torre’s first encounter with Southern India, and more precisely, it is an ode to the women that won her heart during these travels. Prisoners of their culture, on one hand these women are symbols of goddesses, and on the other, their place in a male dominated society is to be one of hardship and subservience. Caught between this dichotomy, these women continue with fighting spirits to claim their place in this man’s world, to feel confident to freely express their strength as well as their femininity.
