Every year a festival and an international competition of “Madonnari” is held in this town. “Madonnari” are street painters that execute chalk drawings in the squares and streets of cities, mainly of religious themes. The Centro Culturale Artisti Madonnari, based in Curtatone, promotes and teaches street painting. They also experiment with optical illusion 3D techniques, where, from a certain angle, it appears like the drawing is coming out of the ground and it is standing up.
