My first taste of Patagonia was running as fast as I possibly could toward the Perito Moreno Glacier. The entire ice cap turned pink as a momentary break in clouds & rain gave way to one of more stunning rainbows I had ever seen. Unfathomable colors were reflecting off the glacier ice and nearby peaks. As hard as I tried ( and i tried hard) I couldn't make it to a good viewpoint before the rainbow vanished, sky turned dark and the rain came back. I was huffing & puffing, soaked from sweat on the inside and rain on the outside only to walk away with a few lackluster images compared to what I had just seen.
Every decent photographer has a story like this.. it is truly what makes the good moments good.. The rest of my trip kinda went just like this.. either barely missing the moment due to heinous weather a broken down car or just good ol fashion bad timing. Proof that the spirit of exploration is found amongst the hardships of travel, often in the silver lining that the harder you work the greater the experience. Such is always in Patagonia.
