I think my mom’s friend Dana took this incredible picture of her, laughing hysterically in the city she loved. My mom had a great laugh, and she deployed it generously. Her jokes tended to be of the eye-rolling wordplay variety, but she had great taste, and introduced me to a lot of standup- Carlin, Robin Williams, and God forgive us all, early Cosby. Later on I introduced her to the new guys, and she loved Patton, Mullaney, Paul F, and Maria Bamford. Her laugh – a throw-back-her-head cackle - sounded like a boisterous hug.
