Meet Fotini Tikkou (@fotinitikkouillustration), an Athens-based illustrator working in different mediums, such as print and pottery. She says she’s inspired by her surroundings, and that she tries to draw from the beautiful color palettes, shapes, patterns, and ideas around her every day. She loves to create art using “simplicity with hints of detail” and notes that her work is *always* colorful (“I prefer warm, but not too saturated color palettes for a more natural feel”). Otherwise, her favorite subject to draw is women of all shapes and sizes. She loves giving women a voice, and through her work tries to embrace “diversity, imperfection, equality, and self-acceptance.” She loves that Instagram has been able to give her visibility as an artist, and allowed her to collaborate with many different clients, open her own online shop, and even sign with an agency! Her tip for creating a great feed, is to create your own content that comes from the heart. She says that it’s also key to make sure all of your photos have a keen sense of care put into them, so that they look nice, bright, and clean to make your feed look consistent. (She says that the less work related stuff is usually saved for her stories.) While she knows it’s important to use the right hashtags, it’s even more important to engage with your followers by liking and replying to comments to create a connection. Fotini admits that she was “a really bad Fine Arts student” and that she actually hated going to class, however now she has found her creative flow through painting and her new found passion of working with clay. She says some of her favorite illustrators include @leahreenagoren @katepugsley and @ohkiistudio, and her favorite ceramists include @susansimonini @daisycooperceramics @jonosmart and @pieceofclay. ⚡️ #ShineTheory
