Unveiled for the first time in 30 years, Gerhard Richter’s ‘Schädel (Skull)’ will be on view at our Hong Kong gallery from 4–7 September.⠀

Last exhibited in January 1988 in Munich, ‘Skull’ is a masterpiece that stems from the height of Richter’s photo-painting practice. A vision of ephemeral beauty bathed in soft, warm light, the work is the first in a series of eight skull paintings – of which four are now in museum collections.⠀

After Hong Kong, ‘Skull’ will be exhibited in New York (15–18 September) before being offered in our Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Auction in London on 4 October.⠀
