Today marks what would have been the 130th birthday of German painter and choreographer #OskarSchlemmer. Visit his “Bauhaus Stairway” (1932), now on view in our own Bauhaus staircase. Both pay tribute to the #Bauhaus, a school founded in 1919 by architect Walter Gropius, famous for its visionary integration of technology, art, and design. The man ‘en pointe’ at the top of the stairs reflects Schlemmers’s role as the creator of many important dance and theatrical productions at the Bauhaus.
