Everything I am this morning
is a wild sex spilling over onto
each task: the tooth brush
entering my mouth with rapid abandon;
the heated milky foam
pouring
from the spigot into a dainty cup;
the way I stand , arm extended to the wall, my shirt ending where pubis begins, urine splashing.
The lamp stands erect, hood dwarfing the trunk. Young women
clear their throats from the hallway as they pass my door. The pressure
is optimum to the sink: water swirls with a hollow tail down the drain.
The appliances are all plugged in, male to female.
My cigarette burns with a hot red tip. And the way my pen spills
onto the paper, the same way I wrote onto you before you left.
The tape is in the player, cork in the wine bottle, a tissue spills from its box. The furnace is on, fax loaded, switches are up, and the goddamn cabinets are opened just a crack. Confess it: There is an an ecstasy everywhere.
