Seated in a regal stance, these bronzes depict the divine couple Shiva and his consort Uma.⠀

Attributed to the late 13th- to early 14th-century, the pair is one of the finest examples of late Chola-early Vijayanagara-period sculpture to come to auction. It was a period of climactic and political upheaval – by 1279, the Chola kingdom was disbanded entirely – yet these magnificent bronzes were produced even during this troubled time.⠀
