For @lademiddel, the photographic reportage of prostitution has been reduced to a series of visual clichés revolving around women, sex, and capitalism. For all of the stories told time and again, the identity and lives of the clients were all but invisible.

The photographer, who has always enjoyed subverting the paradigms of the status quo to provide new sources of insight and understanding, seeks to redress this balance in her ongoing series, 'Gentlemen's Club'. PHOTO: Toe, 31 years old. Single. Technician. Toe was 25 when he first payed for sex and it happened because he was drunk and hanging out with friends that encouraged him. He remembers it as a bad experience because he was unable to preform well. That day he paid 18 USD but now pays around 75 USD when he goes once every couple of months. He hires prostitutes because he thinks the sex is different and better than normal relationships. Bangkok. Thailand. 2018
