On Friday night I was walking to scope out a colony for TNR about 10 minutes away, and found this guy before I could even get there. A concerned neighbor was sitting with him on the sidewalk and about to get some food. I ran to get my carrier and we used the food as a lure to bring him in. He’s in rough shape - a (previously) large, unfixed friendly stray with weight/muscle loss from starvation and dehydration. Easily the dirtiest cat we’ve ever seen with tons of thick, matted hair clumps, but that can be fixed. The fantastic news is that Teddy is eating, drinking and pooping normally. He’s been peeing both inside and outside the box, so while we will identify any medical issues at the vet, it’s also possible he’s marking his territory with a familiar smell in a new environment. He also has a wound on his head and a scarred cauliflower ear from a previous injury. More to come. We’ll do what we can to try and get him back to health.
