Located in Glasgow's east end Celtic Park is sometimes referred to by commentators as Parkhead (or by fans as Paradise), after the district of the city the stadium is located. The stadium has been situated on its current site since 1892. Parkhead flourished with the discovery of coal in 1837 and grew into an important industrial centre for the city. Since the 1970s the area has had to battle against the decline of the coal and steel industry relying instead on retail jobs and the popularity of football. Home games at Celtic FC often host up to 55,000 fans.
