Not only has your involvement in this inspired me to reach out and give all of kids what they deserve but I have continually been inspired by the stories of other teachers around the US. I teach 7th grade English at a title one school in San Francisco. We have consistently implemented whole school independent reading which has had a profound effect on so many students. However, this year we have finally implemented more read aloud time to have shared experiences as a homeroom and continue to build culture and a love for learning. The problem is that it is super challenging to find class sets of books that have protagonists that look and sound like our students.
