I love the sun. I was born in Corsica, under the sun and I moved to California for the sun. But, CRAP, what a conundrum! . There is no way to do “sun” right. . Sunscreens either have chemicals or make you look like a ghost. They also damage the oceans, which is terrible and has me thinking twice of what products I put on before I go for a swim. But then, don’t use them and you’ll end up with crappy looking skin or skin cancer. BUT you also need your D vitamin and you need it for real, as in no sunscreen and no sunglasses unless you want to become depressed and, I don’t know, cursed on three generations? . Also who can really say they put sunscreen on the back of their hands after each time they wash their hands? Not me. . In California, some women who are really worried about their skin succeed in staying absolutely white. They have dark tinted windows on their cars, spf driving gloves and when they walk their dogs, they are fully covered and wear weird hats that look like bees keeper hats. It’s like a sun ghost was passing near you. . SO. . I decided to give up. Whatever!!! There is no way to be perfect. I try to protect myself when I can, how I can. I try to be conscious of the environment and to not go in the water covered in sunscreen. I try to be fine with the new “freckles” on my arms. I love being outdoors, hiking, swimming, riding my bike, walking my dogs (yes!!!) and even if I often favor a long sleeve over a spaghetti strap, I just keep it as easy as possible. . How do you manage this, depending on where you live? What are your favorite sunscreens?
