In honor of World Alzheimer’s Day, I’m sharing this memory of my mom graduating from school and getting her masters degree in social work. That’s my great grandfather Joe Rogen (for real) who lived in downtown Newark. He would come visit and always had great stories of witnessing horrible crimes. My sister looks thrilled to be there. I got to wear the graduation cap, which was a dream of mine, probably largely due to the tootsie roll owl.
