The prominent Renand-Chapet collection, one of the most eclectic and daring yet scholarly of the 20th century, was meticulously assembled by Georges Renand, director of the legendary department store La Samaritaine from 1928 to 1968, and one of his daughters, Jeannine Chapet. Renand successfuly put together one of the leading private collections of his time, with a number of the outstanding masterpieces that passed through his hands now in major international #museums, including Musée d’Orsay, the #Getty in California and New York's Metropolitan Museum. Jeannine, who grew up in this remarkably humanist environment, inherited some part of these treasures. She strove to continue her father's work, enriching the #collection with a touch of modernity. Thus, past masters found their home alongside pioneers of abstraction.
