Stacey Abrams is just one woman who could make history during these midterm elections. Abrams could become the first black female governor in the country, ever, if she were to win the Georgia gubernatorial race this November. But she isn’t waiting to make a difference: In 2013, she founded a nonpartisan nonprofit, the New Georgia Project, which has registered more than 250,000 Georgians—mostly people of color, unmarried women, and young people.
