“우리는 포기하지 않습니다. 우리에겐 아직 희망이 있습니다.” 2018 #난센난민상 수상자인 에반 아타르 아다하 박사를 소개합니다. 아타르 박사는 지난 20년 간 강제로 집을 떠나야 했던 사람들을 치료하여 왔습니다.
기본적인 의료장비도 갖추지 못한 열악한 병원에서 그는 난민 144,000명을 포함한 200,000명의 환자를 돌보고 있습니다. 남수단 분즈에 위치한 아타르 박사의 병원은 이 지역의 유일한 의료시설입니다. 이곳에서 그와 그의 동료들은 매주 60건이 넘는 수술을 진행합니다.
저는 2015년 남수단을 방문하여 내전으로 고통받고 있는 수많은 난민과 국내실향민을 만났습니다. 이들에게 아타르 박사의 병원은 빛이며 희망일 것입니다. 단 한 사람의 희생이 수십, 수백만 명의 삶을 바꿀 수 있습니다. "We don't give up, we still have hope”

2018 winner is Dr Evan Atar Adaha who has spent 20 years providing lifesaving medical services to people forced to flee conflict.
In Bunj, South Sudan, he runs the only functional hospital, serving around 200,000 people, including 144,000 refugees. Dr. Atar and his team deliver vital care in extremely challenging conditions lacking vital facilities. Yet their resourcefulness and dedication means they carry out almost 60 operations per week.
I met with many refugees and IDPs during my mission to South Sudan in 2015. I can imagine what kind of light and hope Dr. Atar has been bringing to these people suffering from conflicts. One person’s dedication can change many people’s lives.
