This is an ad I painted over and left on the street in 1999. One day I switched most of the bus shelter ad’s on Houston St. to French ad’s I stole and painted over in Paris the week before. It’s up for auction today. The auction provenance says “acquired directly from the artist” I’m not sure if stealing something off the street is considered getting it directly from the artist... @phillipsauction ?‍♂️ ?#KAWS #NYC #1999
