Colonel Tavington’s entrance. Boy does @RolandEmmerich know how to give a bad guy status. He put me on a horse the size of a building (Big Ben, 16 hands, since you asked), let me ride up to Mel Gibson’s house in glorious slow-motion, casually murder his teenage son, slaughter his farm animals (caused a far bigger upset than the kid) and point my loaded musket at our hero’s head. Mel knows story too and was smart enough to play properly scared - you’d be surprised how many stars wouldn’t have done. Just in case it went to my head, all my close-ups were filmed on a ladder shaken-not-stirred by burly, tattooed, men who were monumentally unimpressed by the effete Englishman perched on the top. At the end of the first take, nobody said cut and I sat and pouted and squinted and waited and still nobody said cut as the men faked the stops and starts of a horse dropping its load. Desperate for something to do as all eyes were still on me and I’d long since run out of words, I spat out “Stupid boy.”
“CUT!” came the director’s voice, after another few seconds.
“What were you waiting for?” I asked. “That.” he said.
