Happy 160th anniversary to the Char Yong (Dabu) Association!

Founded in 1858 to help fellow Hakka immigrants settle in Singapore, the Association now not only takes care of Hakkas but all Singaporeans, regardless of race or dialect. While smaller than other dialect groups, the Hakkas have been successful in many fields.

For this anniversary, the Association is organising a range of events – including a food festival and musical concert. We had a sneak preview last night of our National Day Song, Home, sung partly in Hakka.
