This was a painful week for our country. I think this is a good time to revisit this documentary. It’s called @iamevidencethemovie and my friend Mariska Hargitay produced it. It shows Mariska’s search to understand why there is a DNA rape kit backlog crisis and the impact it has had in sexual assault survivors. It is particularly powerful to be introduced to several survivors, to hear their stories, and see the impact that justice denied them has had on their lives. For those who are confused about why survivors wait long periods of time to report, or don’t report, this is a window into a survivir’s experience. I hope you will consider watching it.
