Here’s an update about Chicken the cat who was declawed in June by an Ohio vet. The declawing vet and other vets at her practice said that her condition has nothing to do with her declaw and the diagnosis was “healed declaw, resolved fever, possible phantom pain if holding up paws at home, no treatment needed at this time” and that she should find a new practice for Chicken’s care. ???
Chicken is still limping, walking on her wrists, laying down when she eats, and standing and holding her paws up.
The cat owner took Chicken to a no-declaw practice last week and they said that her condition is related to her toe amputations. She was given Onsior for a week but her condition hasn’t improved.
Chicken will start on Guabapentin on Monday to see if that helps her suffering.
I reached out to the declawing vet for her side of this tragic story but haven’t heard back yet. I’m going to publish the full story next week.
