Reflecting on an amazing weekend. @hbo rolled out the world premiere of the brilliant documentary “We Are Not Done Yet” from gifted director @sareenhai and producer @ジェフリー・ライト
The message is clear; we can and must do more. We have to invest in community, emotion, art, vulnerability, and hope. We have to understand the CONTEXT of the second chances that some of our #veterans are so desperate for and deserving of. We have to buy in to the truth that when a veteran asks for help, it is usually with a broken heart and a hopeless desperation. We have to talk! We have to shout about it! We’re dying...we’re dying and there’s more we can do. If you’re a veteran and you’re hurting; if you’re anyone and you’re hurting, there is hope beyond a pill and a cold and sterile doctor’s office. You are not a diagnosis. You are a queen, a king. And the message of this movie is there is a way for us to learn that about ourselves. We can survive. We can chase horizons and let ourselves be overcome with hope in place of shame. The healing is real.
