I’ve got baking on the brain. what is it about this time of year? .
Yesterday there was a big outing to the local farm stand (though everything with a newborn is an adventure) Our humble supply of apples exhausted - I grabbed up some of my New England favorites - Macon, Mac and Cortland

Pottering in the kitchen a lentil soup in the works and an apple galette for dessert

And the seasonal shuffle is happening between- i move spices in my kitchen the way many move clothes in their wardrobe - each season having its favorites. autumn is the season of cardamom, cinnamon and bay. I’m thinking of adding some cardamom straight to the galette crust - we’ll see how it goes ||
