As the world’s first jet engine to include 3D-printed parts, the CFM LEAP is a blend of advanced manufacturing techniques. 3D-printed fuel nozzles and fan blades woven from carbon fiber composites (CMCs) helped make the LEAP stronger and lighter. #FunFact thanks to CMCs, each fan blade is strong enough to hold the weight of a wide-body aircraft, while shedding 500 pounds per engine.
