On Sunday, I attended #therapefoundation annual brunch. It was a deeply moving experience. The founder of this incredible organization, #GailAbarbanel (5th pic) invited me to come to surprise one of the three courageous survivors who told her story. I was absolutely blown away by the courage and the resiliance of the three survivors who shared their stories on Sunday. I think storytelling is a powerful tool for creating empathy, building bridges, educating and igniting activism. These three survivors are all simply amazing.
The statistics surrounding sexual assault are staggering. 1 in 5 women are victims of rape. 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18. This is a horrific epidemic.
The #Rapetreatmentcenter and #stuarthouse are both places to go where every need is met for victims of sexual assault completely free of charge. I am amazed by the work they are doing and was honored to have had the chance to participate in this fundraising event.
I also had the chance to hang with @t.r.knight (who is just so wonderful) and my dear friend @officialjustinchambers . And it was beautiful to hear from @ジェニファー・ガーナー Who was being honored as well.
