I love a film that isn't just scary, but that is effectively creepy. Creepy is not the same as scary; a scary film will have you jump and scream, whereas a creepy film will have you vicariously experiencing complex and extreme emotional content while you're watching. Horror movies can frighten you by simply using loud noises and sudden movements that will make the audiences jump; they can play on primal fears and physical reactions to give you a thrill.
