This weekend will be a very special moment for many Cantabarians and myself!!!! ?⚫?⚫?
The brand NEW ATHLETICS TRACK will be opened after 7 years without one!!!???
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Since the 2011 Christchurch earthquake my home city has not had a synthetic track.
The nearest track was in Timaru, about 150km away, so we would only get there occasionally- the rest of the time we would train on the potholed grass tracks or the road (in the winter we trained on the road for almost every session). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have trained on synthetic/mondo tracks when competing overseas over all these years (generally a couple of months each year) and found real tracks a HUGE benefit to my training.

I am so very excited to now be able to train and compete on a track that is only about 8km from where I live!!!! Bring on this weekend and the future with Christchurch finally having an athletics track!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
